Dear WESTSTOCK Supporter: The 5800 Block of Pine Street Weststock Committee will be hosting the “9th Annual WESTSTOCK Music Festival 2024” on September 21, 2024, (rain date: September 28, 2024). We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to participate in the upcoming event. We hold this event annually, so our neighbors and surrounding communities can come together to commune over the love of music with live entertainment, fun, food, and positivity in support of peace, unity in our community and a plea to stop the violence. We showcase live bands, singers, dancers, fashion shows, and praise dancing. This year, we hope to have the added feature of our local youth and young adult organizations participating by kicking off the event with a parade of drill teams, drum corps and/ or bands showcasing their extraordinary talents. We also provide bookbag giveaways (filled with school supplies), snacks, refreshments, and raffle great gifts, all at our personal expense. The events in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 were featured in our neighborhood newspaper, the Westside Weekly as well as featured in the University City Review in 2017. Returning strong post Covid-19, the event was featured on CBS3 in 2022. We were proud of each and every guest speaker that came out to support our community efforts and we hope to have that great experience with them again along with many new supporters. Welcome Back Weststock 2022 - 7th Annual Music Festival post Covid-19 was a very successful, peaceful and an enjoyable day on every level. Our event increased from 150 spectators in 2014 to approximately 300 or more through 2015, 2016 and 2017, over 500 in 2018, and more than 700 in 2019 and 2022. This growth and community support has been paramount in our continued desire to have the showcase again. Hence, the “9th Annual WESTSTOCK Music Festival 2024”. The event has a structured venue. We start setting up at 7:00am, scheduled to start at 10:30am, and end at 9:00pm The event is hosted and there are 20-30 performers. Each act has a predetermined time slot which is approximately 10-35 minutes, depending on the desired time and when the individual act ends. The music covers all genres, our performers are of all ages, and the entertainment is for all ages. The performers are not permitted to use profanity. In an effort to make each event an outstanding success, we need your help and any assistance you may provide. The budget for the cost of hosting the showcase covers vital parts of this event such as providing food, beverages, snacks, promotions, bookbags, crowd control barriers, chair and table rentals, t-shirts, badges, security and other related miscellaneous expenses. We are asking for any donation and support to assist us in making this upcoming event as successful as past events. A monetary donation would be especially beneficial this year as the City of Philadelphia has imposed added required expense related to obtaining liability insurance and we would like to obtain private security this year to ensure an enjoyable event.. As we are 501c3 organization, you may benefit from a possible tax deduction for your contribution. We believe this event is very beneficial to the West Philadelphia community. It offers an incentive to fellowship, while listening to other’s creativity, realizing one's own creativity and potential, and the opportunity to expand community relationships. We make efforts to promote this event through fliers, handbills, shirts, posters, emails, social media, media circuits and word-of mouth. Any corporate contributions will be acknowledged prior to the event, during the event and post the event. During the previous events, we have been able to offer all of the performers refreshments and snacks at no charge. Your support will help allow us to continue this tradition and provide a highly positive, artistic environment for our community. While we believe no donation will ever be too small, we are asking for your donation and support to help offset some of the costs. With your support, we are confident that this year will be just as successful! We would like to add your name to the list of contributors for 2024.
